Observations and Anecdotal Information
Our leleshwa essential oil is distilled by a small family operation in Kenya. It is a powerful disinfectant and deodorant, an insect repellant, and a very potent fungicide, possibly the most effective natural fungicide available.
Contrary to its botanical name, it does not contain much camphor. It is classified as a monoterpene.
Known as “Mkalambati” in Swahili, leleshwa essential oil is known to be a fantastic insect repellant, for ticks, mites, spiders, flies, and mosquitos. Wild animals such as cape buffalo and gazelles rub against the plant to remove ticks.
I have used it in many deodorant recipes. Its effect lasts longer than many other essential oils, and its fragrance is bright and cheerful. I like to combine it with bergamot, lavender, or geranium for a pleasant aromatic deodorant experience.
For skin fungus, nail fungus, it I can be very effective. I once saw a bad case of childhood ringworm cleared up in 5 days with a diluted combination of leleshwa and geranium.
It also makes a very good natural preservative, use at .01% in cremes and natural products.
