Mountain Savory
Mountain Savory Essential Oil
Mountain savory essential oil has a sharp aroma, similar to thyme or oregano. It is a profound neutralizer of bacteria, funguses, and microbes.
Energetically, mountain savory essential oil helps those who were born into a family where they were the main focus, and they felt overwhelmed, suffocated, and defeated.
It helps dissolve guilt and relieve the need to over control situations and people. It makes it easier to let go and surrender, and to recognize, give and receive real love.
Aromatic Profile
Top Note: Sharp, herby, green, warm/hot notes
Heart Note: Sharp, herby, green, warm, woodsy, resinous notes

Classification:
Tenacity: Medium.
Mountain Savory is very cleansing to the air and environment and should be diffused only after blending with other essential oils. Many find the oil to be too strong for diffusion unless it is diluted or blended. For some sensitive people, diffusing it alone can create a burning sensation in eyes and mucus membranes.
It combines well with citruses, templin fir, lemon ironbark, clementine orange, and piñon pine, as well as other oils.

Observations and Anecdotal Information
Mountain savory is a culinary herb that has recently become more widely received as an essential oil. It has an enormous capacity to stop bacterial and microbial infections, and is great to take internally when in need of a natural ‘antibiotic’.
It is a fairly “hot” oil, so must be well diluted for use on the skin, like thyme and oregano to avoid a burning sensation.
Mountain savory essential oil is especially helpful with lung inflammation and respiratory conditions.
It is also a helpful treatment for digestive system issues, including Crohn’s, ulcers, IBS, and chronic heartburn or indigestion. It can help reduce non-beneficial organisms in the digestive tract, and for this purpose it should be used along with a good probiotic, or better yet a daily dose or two of plain live cultured yogurt.
It can be effective for infant colic, and must be diluted to 0.25% to 1% for this purpose. (That means 2 drops in 2 cups of milk or water). Other oils such as anise or ginger are usually regarded as being preferable for infants.
Cautions
Generally regarded as safe at normal dosage.
Avoid use during pregnancy and lactation.
Avoid with infants or small children, unless recommended by a health care professional.
Do not use internally for extended time periods. Savory contains ketones, and may become hepatic with extensive use. Use low doses for short duration, for best results.
Do not use with liver diseases or chronic liver conditions.
Keep all essential oils away from eyes.
Store in a safe place, out of the reach of children.
All internal uses should be researched and/or supported by a health care professional. Product quality and dosage are critically important when using essential oils internally.
