Observations and Anecdotal Information

Gingergrass essential oil has been used as a skin treatment, added to cremes and balms and cosmetics to promote skin health.  It is anti-fungal and can be applied to the skin for athlete’s foot, ringworm, and other fungal infections.  It is effective for treating acne, as it is drying and anti-bacterial when applied to break outs.

It is also a very effective and pleasant oil to use against insect attack.  It can fend off mosquitos for up to 12 hours, and is also effective against ticks.  It works well when combined with citronella as an insect repellant spray for use in gardens or outdoors.

Gingergrass essential oil is also an effective pain reliever.  Apply it topically (after properly diluting in a carrier oil), for joint or muscle pain, arthritis, or tendonitis. Or try it in the bath or as a compress, to help relieve congestion due to colds and flu.
